The effectiveness evaluation of drug addiction treatment and gender difference under judicial supervision in Taiwan

| Popis: | 101 There are difference in risk factors of recidivism, protection factors of treatment and relapse prevention, and barrier they face during the treatment between female addicts and male drugs addicts, for instance,limited resources, psychological disorders family responsibilities and other issues, would affect the outcome of the treatment of female addicts. In addition, female addicts and male drugs addicts demand for different treatment (NIDA, 2010). Therefore, this study focuses on the effectiveness and limitations of gender differences under judicial supervision, and make recommendations for the limitations. The data is based on "The evaluation on the effectiveness of drug addicts’ treatment under judicial supervision in Taiwan" which is presided by Shu-long Yang. Moreover, the participants in this study are from Xindian﹐ Taichung﹐ Kaohsiung mandatory treatment centers. The study have gathered valid sample of 362 men and 107 women, a total of 469 drug addicts.The study has found that the two groups in family attachment and friend attachment have significantly improved, however, only health quality and work quality of female addicts group has significantly improved after treatment. Therefore, Authorities should strengthen programs of motivation, interpersonal relationships and self-efficacy to abstain their addiction is suggested for this study. Last but not least, because of the differences in demands between male and female drug addicts,the authorities should provide different treatment to improve the effectiveness . |
