Degradarion of gaseous 1,2-dichloroethane using Cu2O/Zeolite hybrid catalysts

Popis: | 100 Hybrid catalysts with cuprous oxide (20, 30, and 50 wt%) using zeolite (CZ20, CZ30, and CZ50) were made and the effect on degradation of gaseous 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCE) was studied by these hybrid catalysts under various relative humidity (15 and 65%) and different light (ultraviolet, blue, green and red light). The results were indicated that the absorption band shifted to visible light with Cu2O increased on hybrid catalysts. Due to Cu2O has low specific surface area of 0.5 m2/g, adding zeolite of CZ20, CZ30, and CZ50 increased the specific surface area to 182, 149, and 103 m2/g, respectively, resulting to enhance the surface reaction and easy to form granular catalysts. In addition, comparison with 15 and 65% relative humidity, degradations of 1,2-DCE using CZ20-UV system within 120 min reaction time were 29.2 and 96.3%, indicating that the excited electron reacted water on surface of hybrid catalysts becoming radical but water adsorbed onto catalysts held back the degradation. Moreover, under CZ50- UV and CZ50- RED systems, the removal efficiency reached almost the same as 83.8 and 82.2 %. This result indicated the hybrid catalysts suitable to use under sun in the future. |
