Research of Franz Liszt's piano music：〈Les jeux d'eaux á la Villa d'Est〉

| Popis: | 100 Franz Liszt(1811-1886) was one of the most important Romantic composers in the nineteenth century. Liszt’s music works represented many important Romanticism features and influenced the twentieth century music. Liszt’s visit to Switzerland, his stay in Italy, as well as his piety for religion in his latter part of life, resulted in his work “Années de Pèlerinage”. The finest large work of Liszt’s late period is the collection of pieces he published in 1883 as “Années de Pèlerinage, troisième année”. ‘Les jeux d''eaux á la Villa d''Este’ is the fourth piece from “Annees de Pelerinage, troisième année” among seven works. Liszt’s exquisite and innovative techniques in the work anticipated the water effects achieved by Ravel’s ‘Jeux d’eaux’ and Debussy’s ‘Reflet dans l''Eau’. Contents of this study include the formal analysis and performance interpretation of ‘Les jeux d''eaux á la Villa d''Este’. In this thesis, I discussed melody, tonality, thematic transformation, performance techniques and pedaling in ‘Les jeux d''eaux á la Villa d''Este’. It is my hope that this study would provide reference for future performers. |
