The Survey About the Study on the Current Situation of the Night Angel Illumination Program Implemented in the Elementary Schools in Nantou County schools

This study aimed to explore the current implementation situation of the Night Angel Illumination Program implemented by the Nantou County elementary schools, the educational personnel’s opinions on the program, the difficulties encountered while implementing the program, and the adopted coping strategies. To achieve the research purposes, this study conducted self-designed questionnaires. The tool was titled The Current Situation of the Night Angel Illumination Program Implemented by the Elementary Schools in Nantou County. The targeted participants were the 96 teachers from the 22 elementary schools that implemented the Night Angel Illumination Program during the 1st semester in the 2011 academic year. The data obtained was entered into the computers and SPSS 12.0 for Windows statistical software package was used to conduct data analysis. Statistical methods used for data analysis included the mean, standard deviation, frequency distribution, single-factor analysis of variance, and t-test statistical methods. According to the data analysis results, the study reached the following conclusions: 1. The teachers of the Night Angel Illumination Program were either selected or employed separately by each school or by the open selection of teachers. The students participated in the program were identified based on the program’s standard screening and by the approvals of the classroom teachers. The students attended the classes provided by the program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The attending locations were the school’s classrooms. The course contents were mainly for the completion of homework, reading, and arts and crafts. The funding was received after the completion of the courses. 2. The teachers thought that the students screening mechanism of the Night Angel Illumination Program, the students’ learning attitudes, the learning effectiveness, the arrangements of class hours, the curriculum, the utilization of funding, and the use of school equipment were proper and appropriate. The teachers’ evaluations were positive.. 3. The teachers felt that in terms of the safety management, parent-teacher communication, and the funding speed, the Night Angel illumination Program have rooms for improvement. 4. The motivation and the reasons why the teachers participated in the Night Angel Illumination Program were because of the students. The teachers’ gender, seniority, township, and duties were significantly different in their motivation and reasons for participating in the program. 5. The teachers of different genders were significantly different in their opinions on the level of safety mechanisms of the Night Angel Illumination Program. 6. The teachers from different villages and towns were significantly different in their opinions on the funding of the Night Angel Illumination Program. 7. The educational administrative agencies should have handled the Night Angel Illumination Program at an earlier time and shortened the schedule of the funding appropriation. 8. In order to improve the teachers’ willingness to participate and to solve the difficulty of having enough faculty members, the educational administrative agencies should have increased the part-time teaching fee in a timely manner to build the manpower database. Finally, based on the results, the study proposed specific recommendations for the administrative agencies, the school administrators, the teachers, the parents, and the future research studies.
