The medical center operating room nurses' self-efficacy, professional commitment and work stress' impact to their job satisfaction.

Popis: | 100 The purpose of this study is to discuss the influence of job satisfaction from the self-efficacy, professional commitment, and work stress for operating room nurse. This is the correlation for the cross-sectional study design, the object of study is the operating room nurses in a medical center in Taipei, the sample number is 200 people, and the returns-ratio is 98.04%. The research tools include "General Self-efficacy Scale", "Nurse’s Professional Commitment Scale", "Nurses Stress Checklist", and "Nurse’s Job Satisfaction Scale". The statistical analysis of descriptive statistics, independent-samples t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation, hierarchical multiple regression, and stepwise multiple regression are proceeded via SPSS19.0 statistical software. The results showed: (1) the descriptive statistics was calculated by the standardized score, the self-efficacy is the moderate-level (64.48%), the professional commitment is the moderate high-level (74.87%), the work stress is the mild-level (36.65%), and job satisfaction is the normal-level (61.44%). (2) the difference between the Demographic and work characteristics for the operating room nurses: the age, number of children, the age of the smallest child, religion, average weekly overtime hours, working age for operating room, working age for nursing, and average monthly salary of the operating room nurses cause the difference in the self-efficacy, professional commitment, work stress, and job satisfaction (p<.05). (3) the correlation results: a positive correlation between self-efficacy and the professional commitment(r=.51, p<.001), a negative correlation between self-efficacy and the work stress(r=-.22, p<.01), a positive correlation between self-efficacy and the job satisfaction(r=.25, p<.001). (4) Mediator test showed: the mediating effect of self-efficacy doesn’t show the statistical significant (z=-1.66, p>.05), it means the work stress can’t impact the the job satisfaction via the self-efficacy; The mediating effect of professional commitment shows the statistical significant (z=-2.79, p<.01), it means the work stress can’t impact the the job satisfaction via the professional commitment, the impact effect of 44%. (5) as for the prediction, the average monthly salary (between 5 and 7 million vs over 5 million) and professional commitment are the predictive factors of the job satisfaction(R2=.26, p<.01), it can explain 26% of the variance. This is the first study to take the self-efficacy and professional commitment as the mediators, the results will provide to the hospital administrative authorities as the reference data in the recruitment of staff, as the future direction of training operating room nursing personnel, and assist operating room nurses to relieve the work stress improve job satisfaction by enhancing the professional commitment, so that the the operation Room service quality will be progressed. |
