The action research for Elementary Teacher Specialized Study Communities, By Teaching Drums and Brass Band.

In recent years, Ministry of Education motivated estimate strategy actively by developing school teachers’ specialty. They demanded school authorities to do more superintending and teaching evaluation and to increase the communication between teachers .To build up specialized study communities at school is a final goal. Because of the power of specialized study community, all the teachers could understand one another, share teaching experiences, take responsibilities together, build up good relationship and develop their own specialties.There are more and more specialized study communities growing at school. There are a small number of researches about language and social study for middle school. But we could hardly find anything about teacher’s specialty development for teaching elementary school’s drums and brass band and to connect with teachers’ community. The objects of study focused on the teachers of specialized study community that taught elementary school’s drums and brass band. According to the process of operation and to find out that how the teachers interacted and developed in community.The design of research was based on nature research and took action research as the way. The objects were the teachers from one of Pingtung County’s elementary school, who had the same interest. The research collected the community’s daily feedback, dialogues of meetings, observation records, interview reports, etc. To see the actions from teachers who participated in teaching drums and brass band, and their teacher specialized study community, community processes, and the teachers’ specialty developments. According to the result, at the first stage, the researcher found that it was not easy to develop teacher specialized study community for school drums and brass band. It was because that every teacher had his own duty on teaching and couldn’t spend more hours in the community. After observation and discussion I did some changes for the processes. At the second stage, we integrated the school’s schedule and the school sports day with the plan to design the programs. The teachers were encouraged to show their creativities. On the school sports day we not only performed well but also gained good reputation. And the teachers increased their specialty developments.
