A Study on Optimization of Constrained Layered Damping Structures

The optimizations of constrained layered damped (CLD) laminate structures were discussed in this study. Genetic algorithm (GA) was adopted as the optimization searching tool, and the stacking sequence optimizations of CLD laminate plates subjected to static or dynamic loading were all discussed. Both ANSYS and MATLAB were combined to estimate the stacking sequence optimization of CLD structures. MATLAB package was utilized to GA searching, and ANSYS package was utilized to structural analysis of CLD laminate plates. The fit parameters of GA were adjusted firstly in static loading situations, in order to saving the optimization searching time. Then, the fit parameters of GA were utilized in dynamic loading situations. About the object function of GA, the effects of vibration frequency and stiffness degradations of laminate plates and CLD were all considered, which will yield the best CLD adhesive efficiency under certain external impact. Finally, estimate the CLD adhering efficiency when damping thickness changed.
