Purpose: Investigating the optimal testing trials in badminton short service tests. Methods: Fourteen right hand dominant female badminton collegiate athletes were recruited and asked to complete five common badminton short service tests. Test A was inner corner large arc target zone with 50cm height limit, Test B was small rectangle target zone with 50cm height limit, Test C was large rectangle target zone with 50cm height limit, Test D was inner corner small arc target zone with 20cm height limit, and Test E was inner corner square target zone without height limit. All kinds of tests were performed 5 times in both left and right service areas on separate days. Every session consisted of 20 trials, and the sequence and service areas were determined by counterbalanced order. Each testing trial had 5 records, and the highest and lowest values were eliminated. The remaining 3 records were then averaged to represent the performance of the trial, and transformed into T score to serve as predict variable, while the criterion variable was the sum of T scores from the 20 trials. Lastly, stepwise regression was utilized to determine the testing trials that best predicted the corresponding total scores, and the optimal testing trials were verified. Furthermore, because previous articles lacked reliability information about Test D and E, Pearson’s product moment correlation was performed to obtain test-retest reliability. Results: 1) Optimal testing trials of Test A to E in right service area were 5th, 14th, 12th, 10th, and 3rd trial, while in left service area were 12th, 9th, 2nd, 9th, and 4th trial. 2) Test-retest reliability of Test D in right and left service areas were .58 and .79 respectively (p
