QoE-Driven Energy Deployment in Smart Grid

In recent years, environmental protection has become more and more popular. After the earthquake hit northern Japan on March 11 last year, the abolition of the establishment and development of nuclear energy and renewable energy become the most concerned issues around the world. However, under the carbon reduction policy, people will not be able to use electrical products optionally. For example, a user must give up driving a car to ride a bike or take the public transportation, and even he/she must turn off an air-condition to utilize electric fans in hot summer. Although these methods can meet the goal of saving power, they also cause great inconvenience to people. To solve the above-mentioned problem, we select family as the research area. We construct a Neighborhood Area Network (NAN) with utilizing the rapid development of renewable energy generating device and the concept of the micro-grid from the smart grid. In NAN, we can monitor the condition of users’ power consumption in the overall community with Neighborhood Area Network Energy management unit (NAN EMU), and use Support Vector Regression (SVR) predict the power consumption of each family and the generating capacity of the renewable energy. Hence, each family can make the best power-selling policy with the predicted data in advance. Finally, we propose a power supply and demand matching module to proceed the best matching sets according to the power demand of each family, the distance of the family for power supply, and the available supply electricity. As a result, the propose system can help households to maximize the benefits from buying and selling power, and make users use electrical appliances at ease. In addition, each family in the smart grid will be installed Home Gateway in which we proposed a user experience-based intelligent home appliance control system to analysis users’ habits and learn users’ preferences. With this design, it can help users live in a comfortable environment all the time and avoid the waste of electricity caused by the bad habits of users. With the power of technology, we can save power but without making users feel uncomfortable.
