| Popis: | 100 In the further studies on the chemical constituents of a gorgonian Menella sp. collected off the waters of Taiwan, six new sesquiterpenoids, including menelloides A–D (1–4), (+)-chloranthalactone B (5), and (–)-hydroxylindestrenolide (6), along with three known compounds seco-germacrane anhydride (7), 3'-O-acetylthymidine (8), and cholesterol (9) were isolated. The structures of compounds 1–9 were established by spectroscopic methods and by comparison of the spectroscopic data with those of related metabolites, and sesquiterpenoid 1 was found to possess a new carbon skeleton. Metabolites 1, 5, 6 and 8 displayed inhibitory effects on the generation of superoxide anion by human neutrophils, and metabolites 4 and 8 showed weak inhibitory effects on the elastase release by human neutrophils at a concentration of 10 ug/mL. |
