A Study on the Relationship between Codependency and Self Concept of High School Students

| Popis: | 100 The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between high school students’ codependency and self-concept. The variables also include family factors, gender, and grade. 761 senior high school students in Taipei city and Xinbei city were recruited to accomplish the questionnaire. Data obtained were analyzed by t test, one-way analysis of variance, two-way analysis of variance, and Pearson product-moment correlation. The main findings were as follows: On family factors, students with better family atmosphere tended to hold lower degree of codependency and positive self-concept. On sex and grade, there were sex differences in codependency on “put the focus outside of self” and “captured a sense of purpose through relationships with others.” There was also sex difference in physical self and grade difference in personal self and academic self. There were interactions between sex and grade for moral self, family self, and self concept in a whole. In sum, sex has more effect on codependency and self-concept. There was a negative correlation between codependency on all subscales and self-concept on all subscales. Finally, according to the results of this study, suggestions for education, guidance, and further studies were proposed. |
