A study on the Implementation of Elementary School Swimming Instructional Policy in Chiayi County

This research aims to carry out the present situation of swimming teaching in elementary schools in Chiayi County, understand the influences of teachers’ perceptions to swimming teaching and know the differences and relationship between swimming teaching and the actual teaching implementation, to provide education authorities and schools to implement the swimming teaching for reference. This research refers to the related documents and the questionnaire as the research tool. The conclusions of this study as follow: 1. Strengthen the implementation of swimming teaching in Elementary schools of Chiayi County. 2. Be a critical degree on teachers’ perceptions to swimming teaching here. 3. The implementation of swimming teaching mostly meets the policy. But "policy implementation resources" most do not meet. 4. Different background variables affecting teachers teaching swimming part of the implementation of cognitive factors are significant differences 4-1 Chiayi County elementary school teachers in different positions, school size and whether the implementation of swimming teaching three variables, an important factor in the perception on teaching swimming are significant differences. 4-2 Chiayi County elementary school teachers in different school size, school type and whether the implementation of swimming teaching three variables, the actual teaching of swimming in the perception on the status of implementation are significant differences. 5. There is a very low correlation between the teachers’ perceptions to swimming teaching and the actual swimming teaching in practice. It shows that swimming teaching policy has not been fully implemented. 6. There are significant differences between the teachers’ perceptions to swimming teaching and the actual swimming teaching in practice.
