In, this thesis, a U-H-shaped coplanar waveguide defect ground structure (CPWDGS) is used for the design of unit cells, periodic structures, and two-dimensional structures of band-reject filters (BRF). The thesis proposes a band-reject filter with U-H-shaped coplanar-waveguide defect ground structure. We utilize electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) and other physical characteristics of the structure to generate the pass and forbidden frequency bands. The physical characteristics of the filter as a function of different physical parameters are discussed and analyzed. Finally, we adjust the width and size of the circuits to design periodic and two-dimensional structures of the filters. The characteristics of band-reject filters caused by line width reduction are investigated.
