The participants were 554 junior high school teachers in Taichung City and were asked to fill in survey questionnaires. Descriptive statistics, one-way MANOVA, and Pearson product-moment correlation were employed to analyze the data. The findings of the study were listed as follows: first, teachers’ scores on the implementation of character education are at the high-intermediated level. Second, among the orientations of character education, the teaching method orientation was the most effective. Third, there were significant differences in school sizes with respect to administrative affairs and curriculum designs of character education in junior high schools of Taichung City. Fourth, there were significant differences in school locations with respect to administrative affairs, curriculum designs, teaching methods, and social resources of character education in junior high schools of Taichung City. Fifth, there were no significant differences in school histories with respect to administrative affairs, curriculum designs, teaching methods, and social resources of character education in junior high schools of Taichung City. Final, there were high correlations among administrative affairs, curriculum designs, teaching methods, and social resources of character education in junior high schools of Taichung City. The suggestions of the findings were made to education administrations, schools, and further studies. |
