Women's experience of breast abscess with ongoing breastfeeding during treatment period

Popis: | 100 The purpose of this study was to explore the experience of breast abscess with ongoing breastfeeding during treatment period. This qualitative study was designed by adopting the participant observer field method to collect the data, including physicians diagnosed women’s breast abscess in the obstetric and gynecology clinic, and followed two weeks. The researcher served as a case manager and nurse-participant observer, and then provided nursing care and medical treatment of guidance. It takes two weeks to confirm interventional medical treatment of breast abscess. On the 7th day and the 14th day, the research conducts one-on-one individual interviews. The data were collected from interviews, written narrative record of the course of conduct, and content analyzed and categorized. The feelings of the seven experiences were summed up as follows: 1. suffering from breast abnormal symptom disrupted normal function; 2. feeling of weakness for help about breast abnormal symptom; 3. seeking the power to support breast-feeding beliefs; 4. overcoming with the treatment of the breast abscess; 5. facing the difficulties regarding continuing to breastfeed; 6. experiencing the power of support system for breastfeeding; 7. returning to normal nursing life and daily routine. The findings provide a deeper understanding breast abscess serious breast problems that women face during lactation - breast abscess, biological, psychological and social support systems and the experience of medical treatment. Further, the findings provide lay persons to uncover the veil of lactation breast abscess continued lactation, the face of the self and sophistication to the conflict and reflect on the role of maternal task, and can be incorporated as a valuable reference into breastfeeding policy. |
