A Study on Constructing the Water Accounting System in Taiwan:An Example of the Li-Yu-Tan Reservoir

Popis:	100 Water is one of the world’s most important nature resources. However, no previous research has been conducted to establish the water accounting system in Taiwan. In this paper, we adopted the water accounting framework of the United Nations and the Australian Water Accounting Standards to construct Taiwan’s water accounting system including the water accounting conceptual framework, the definitions of the water accounting elements, and the general purpose water accounting reports. Moreover, we used the Li-Yu-Tan Reservoir as an example to illustrate the use of Taiwan’s water accounting system. The research results could provide valuable information to industry, academic and public authorities on decision making for water resource management.
