A Study on the Relationships among Perceptions of Organizational Change, Job Stress and Organizational Commitment: An Example of Middle and Elementary School Teachers in Changhua County

The purpose of this study is to explore teachers’ perceptions and cognitions of organizational change, job stress and organizational commitment. In the study, joining Teacher Evaluation for Professional Development is regarded as organizational change, from which job stress and organizational commitment are derived. After reviewing literatures, the relationships among perceptions of organizational change, job stress and organizational commitment were well discussed. 241 elementary and middle school teachers in Changhua were surveyed as valid samples. By using the SPSS12.0 software for descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, T-test, one-way ANOVA analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis, the re-sults of this study are as follows: 1. Teachers with different background have different perceptions and cognitions of organizational change, job stress and organizational commitment. 2. Perceptions of organizational change have a positive correlation with organizational commitment. 3. Job stress has a negative correlation with organizational commitment. 4. Perceptions of organizational change have a negative correlation with job stress. 5. Perceptions of organizational change tend to influence organizational commitment partially through the mediating effect of job stress. Based on the results of the study, some practical contributions and suggestions were provided for education administration authorities, schools, teachers and futher study.
