The Internet is a communication infrastructure that interconnects a global community of end users and content servers. In recent years, multimedia video streaming distribution over the Internet has been an intensively studied research topic. To handle a quickly growing number of users, services, and traffic, these content providers are forever upgrading the content servers in order to streamline their operations by providing video streaming applications. In recent years, peer-to-peer (P2P) applications, e.g. PPstream、Foxy、ezPeer、eDonkey, are popular sharing files, music and multimedia among end users. P2P applications then became part of human’s life. We developed a priority sorting mechanism to improve the performance of BitTorrent. The objective is to select the best memberships from social network to share the amounts of data traffic. These results indicate that the proposed algorithm outperforms traditional BitTorrent to offer a more efficient way to decrease the percentage of download time about 75%.
