This study aims to design a member-centered course on H1N1 influenza in order to investigate the effects of clinical nurses’ knowledge increases and their compliance with influenza immunization. The data were collected from 91 participants at a teaching hospital in central Taiwan using purposive sampling strategies with a sampling loss rate of 9.8%. This research was conducted from April 2011 to May 2011 which consisted of a two-group quasi-experimental design, a structured questionnaire for data collection and a two-hour course. SPSS12.0 statistical software was used for data analysis while Chi-square and t test were applied for homogeneity. Data were analyzed by two-way repeated measures ANCOVA for group trial comparison. The study results suggest that heterogeneity exists between pre-training scores and raw data, however, with repeated measures ANCOVA for variable control the course on H1N1 influenza not only increases nursing staff’s knowledge about infection (F(2, 136)=12.2,p=0.01) but also improve their compliance with flu immunization (F(2, 158)=43.73,p=0.02). This research is intended to serve as a reference for healthcare facilities to design infection control courses in the future and is expected to increase the efficiency of on job training.
