Nurses' Turnover and its Related Factors

Popis: | 100 BACKGROUND Many researches discussed nursing staff turnover behavior, turnover intention or stay intention. Based on related literatures, nursing staff’s turnover behavior was affected by many factors. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationships between independent variable (unit characteristic, department and grade) and dependent variable (organizational systems administration, job nature and personal issues). STUDY AIMS The purpose of the study was to find the turnover causes of nursing staff from different unit characteristic, department and grade in the target hospital. The study tried to estimate the real turnover causes of nursing staff by a data analysis. MATERIALS AND METHODS The study collected data from the nursing staff turnover online input information system. Cross-sectional study was adapted. Using purposive sampling method to collected 1,227 leaving nurses in 2009-2011. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis and regression analysis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION The results showed no significant relationship between two variables of unit characteristic, department and three turnover factors (organizational systems administration, job nature, and personal issues). It also showed no impact of grade on organizational system administration. In the study, the relationships between grade and job nature, and personal issues are confirmed. The suggestions were offered to apply human resources management practices to use different retention measures for different grades of nurses. |
