An Analysis of Microblogging Usage – In Case of Plurk

| Popis: | 100 Twitter and Plurk are among the most renowned microblogs, which have served as platforms for netizens to voice opinions and share their feelings, and are also one of the major online media among the public. According to Alexa statistics, Plurk was ranked 39th website in Taiwan and the number of its users in Taiwan accounted for 34 percent among worldwide Plurk users, the largest group compared to any other single country around the world. This thesis discusses the structure of Plurk based on plurks and responses by observing activities of microblogging. Firstly, the author of the thesis used Plurk API to obtain plurks and responses of her friends and followees on the timeline before drawing a connection among our friends and fans and analyzing website addresses posted on plurks. Secondly, we observed plurks’ categories, the overview of external links and the frequencies of users’ plurking. By watching closely to the interactions among Plurk users, the analysis on the user’s social connection on the virtual society could thereby be offered. In addition, each plurk and its responses tell the user’s social connection on the virtual society. This thesis explores the outline of Plurk and a preliminary understanding towards microblogging usage in Plurk. |
