With the highly developed technique and the growth of global market, product designing has become much more internationalized. This research is going to discuss how to express “the national identity of a product through its design,” as well as how to maintain the national identity of the product while launching the product in the global market place. Also, to design the product with distinguishing features unique to their local culture in order to stand apart from international competitive offerings. These differences from other countries’ products will allow the designers to create a national identity for their products in the global market place.By studying the documents and conducting the survey of products, this research discusses how to apply the national identity in the process of designing and expressing a national product; also, analyzes the designing topics of creative image, local culture, external issue and design linkage. By applying the design of national identity to Taiwan’s products, we expect to find out the best strategy of design and to verify the result of national-expressing benefit; therefore the result of this research will help the designers practically in product design of the national identity.
