This research utilizes the maximum and minimum temperatures obtained from weather forecast to predict the hourly outdoor air temperature and air-conditioning cooling load. Then the air-conditioning system control can be optimized hourly by the prediction. The saving in energy and also the electricity cost is also presented. The forecast weather data from the Central Weather Bureau is obtained by remote cloud data method. The hourly temperature prediction model adapted to the local weather characteristics is proposed. A building case is used in the study. The hourly outdoor air temperature is predicted and the hourly cooling load is hence calculated a regression analysis. Using variable supply air temperature, the air-conditioning system is optimized with variable speed pumps and fans and chiller load control so to achieve the lowest energy consumption. Also, this research compares the optimized air-conditioning system performance to that of the building case. Visual Basic .Net is used to write a software for optimization of system performance for air-conditioning system by hourly prediction of weather condition and cooling load. The result of the case analysis shows that the system performance of air-conditioning at part load condition can be increased by more than 14% by using the optimization control proposed by this research. As for the peak load, the system performance factor can be increased for more than 9%. Hence the results show that the optimization of air-conditioning system control as proposed has high potential of energy conservation.
