| Popis: | 99 Taiwan’s medical industry underwent a significant change in 1995. After the government implemented the National Health Insurance program, medical supplies rapidly grew, and the hospital moved toward large-scale development. This along with frequent change in the health insurance system gradually increased operating costs and affected hospital management behavior. Since the implementation of the system of total health care self-expense payment and the New Hospital Accreditation, medical centers began to face an era of high cost pressures. To help retain public confidence, the promotion of high quality medical technology and services became the hospital management’s priority. The products and services provided by the hospital industry are closely related to public health welfare, but the policy or market environment is constantly changing. So, even a little careless operation is likely to affect the hospital and its future development. Founded in 1981, the Far Eastern Memorial Hospital, acting as the social welfare institution of the Far Eastern Group, provides medical services needed by people in the New Taipei City area. Under the joint efforts of former directors and colleagues, the hospital has achieved its objectives in the initial stage. However, health care policy changes and large-scale environmental impacts have occurred during this period. Fortunately, under the leadership of the Director Chu Shu-hsun, the Hospital developed the core expertise of 3C, 2T, 1M, 1N, 1A and establishment of associated features, and made a successful transition to become “the preferred medical center” of the people. The history of the hospital in turning crisis into an opportunity is rare and precious. Through data collection, literature review, and interviews, a deeper understanding of the development context of the Far Eastern Memorial Hospital, the hospital capacity, and the efficiency in management was obtained. |
