Study on the mean trophic level of bottom trawl fisheries southwestern coast of Taiwan

| Popis: | 99 Based on the landing data of bottom trawl fisheries from the Linyuan and Dongan Fishermans Associations, the trophic level (TL) of dominant species were estimated for the further study of mean trophic level (MTL) variations associated with the fishing-in-balance (FiB) in the southwestern coast of Taiwan. Our results are summarized below: The results revealed that the catch trends of bottom trawl fisheries were gradually increased by year and MTL was decreased about 0.04 in Dongan Fishing Association, but not for Linyuan Association. According to the FiB indices, it was negative trend for Dongan Association, but it is no relationship for Linyuan Association. It indicated that the bottom trawl fishery in Dongan existed the fishing down marine food webs effects. In contrary, the food web structure of Linyuan bottom trawl fishing resources revealed the exploitation of higher trophic levels. |
