Popis: | 99 The researcher adopted the theories and logics of quality research and took an adult male with self-mutilation as the participant whose records of counseling process during the narrative counseling were transformed into the major analytic text. Through the analytical methods of narrative (holistic-content and holistic-form), the researcher built up the life story of the researching participant. In the researching participant’s life experience, the two dimensions “downward degradation” and “upward elevation” co-existed simultaneously; yet, his life framework was shaped by the vicissitude (rise and fall) between the two contradictious forces. Under such context, the participant’s life course could be roughly divided into four stages: his primitive family, marital setbacks, self-mutilation, and striving out of self-awareness. The researcher also illustrated and elaborated these stages with a cause-and-effect fishbone diagram. Next, from the participant’s life experiences, the researcher individually interpreted on each significant dimension of the participant’s life experiences and further understood the participant’s life development process and inner framework of self identification; through the comprehension on the participant’s mental state of self-mutilation, deconstructed the world’s stereotype towards self-mutilators so as to attain the effect of de-stigmatization; by summarizing the participant’s social interactions, discussed the phenomena during the interaction process and realized the influence of social construction had on his life course. On the other hand, the researcher presented self-reflections and growths in the research process. Based on the research conclusions, the researcher proposed suggestions for the family members of self-mutilators, social workers, counseling staff, and future researchers. |
