Popis: | 99 The author selects Ching Shan Language Institute as the target institute because of its special position in language teaching in Taiwan. Ching Shan has a history of 58 years and, in Taipei and Kaohsiung, it establishes several branch schools operated with the same management system. Using questionnaire in Likert scale, the author investigated participating students to analyze their backgrounds, study inclinations, and degree of awareness of study needs. The author hopes that the research results can be useful references to managers of language schools. Supplementary education is part of the social education system. It involves education undertaking and profitable business operations; therefore, people stereotype it as a profit-seeking business and forget that there are many devoted educators engaged in this special operation. With the prompt changes and globalization of society, the importance of foreign languages makes language institutes popular among cram schools. However, the higher education level of general people and the fewer children in families put the management of language institute in a stiff situation. Thus, to understand the study inclinations of students, to acquire their recognition, to grasp what people ask for language courses, and to have excellent teachers and attentive management, surely are the key factors for the success of Ching Shan Language Institute. Direct questionnaire is the best investigation method to grasp the firsthand information from students. The results obtained include: 1. Significant relationship exists between students’ study inclination and their awareness of study needs. 2. Students with different background have different study inclinations in foreign language studies. 3. Students with different backgrounds show significant difference in their awareness of study needs. According to the results, the auhtor would like to provide the suggestions 1. Suggestions to students in adults language institute 2. Suggestions to administrators of adults langauge institutes 3. Suggestions for future research |
