Popis: | 99 Wang Chin-Chung, courtesy name Ji-cong, pseudonym Yong-chi, from Beigang Township of Yunlin County, was born in 1896 and died in 1967 at the age of 72. Wang''s place of ancestral origin was Jinan County, Fujian Province. His ancestor, Master Hsue-lai first moved to Taiwan, and the family worked in port-related affairs. Later, since Beigang lost its port functions, Wang became a bureaucrat, and joined the Fenjin Poetry Society when Taiwan was under Japanese rule, and worked in the creation of Chinese poetry and promotion of Chinese studies. After World War II, he worked as a teacher at Beigang Junior High School. In his leisure time, he continued to write Chinese poetry. He ceaselessly wrote Chinese poems throughout his life, creating many poems, and provided significant contributions to the field of classical poetry. Wang''s works spans across the Japanese ruling and the Republican period, and the over two hundred poems he left were primarily metered poetry, and he was especially adept at the seven-character poems. The content of his poetry include topics of travels, scenery, praise of nature, reflections of reality, care for life, and nostalgia for history and ancient things, as well as his own thoughts. There are a wide variety of topics, and he was excellent at using semantics and allusions. Although the rhetoric was simple, he still exhibited a personal and unique aesthetic and style, along with deep and profound meaning. In addition, he participated in poetry games among literati, and these were highly interesting. Therefore, his poetry was not only unique but also contained abundant meaning in thought, and are greatly deserving of exploration and study. Based on the limited previous research accomplishments, this paper explores the family background and life experiences of the poet, to seek clear understanding for his creative background, then to organize and categorize the poetic works, and then analyzes and explores the content to clarify its meaning. Finally, this paper explores the creative style of the poet to summarize the features of his art, which awakened the local feelings of the people, helped pass on Chinese culture, and served as a witness for history, in hopes of gaining overall and in-depth understanding for the Chinese poetry of Wang, to contribute to the research and preservation of Taiwanese classical literature. |
