Popis: | 99 The matriarchal society of the Amis people and age organization of Amis men have been the research topic on human culture by anthropologists, such as Inou Kanori and Kano Tadao, since the Japanese Administration Era. However, there are few researches investigating cultural attire as an indicator of tribal ancestry and migrations. At the same time, the brilliantly colored attire and elegant folk dances is also one of the many unique characteristics of the tribe. This research focused on the Sa’aniwan (Yiwan) Amis tribe along the coast of Taitung. In-depth observational studies were carried out to investigate the developmental links between male attire of the Amis tribe and age organization. The links between clothing and culture in ceremonial dresses and age organization were analyzed by literature review and field investigation. This research raised three major arguments. The first is the intrinsic value and relationship between the individual and one’s attire, where the individual can use the attire as a mark of self- and cultural-identity. The second is the relationship between clothing and the tribal organization. Ornamentation of the attire would indicate hierarchal rank, labor divisions as well as responsibilities. The third point is the relationship between clothing and authority, in which an analysis between the similarities and differences of the attire extends to positions of authority and social standing of the wearer. Lastly, male ceremonial attire of the Sa’aniwan Amis tribe and its evolution with age-hierarchy, social position and authority were recorded and organized, with a further investigation on how the factors of migration and historical setting may have influenced clothing. |
