A Study of Image Repair Strategies for Taipei Rapid Transit Systems：A Case Study of Crisis Communication on Wenhu-Line Accidents

| Popis: | 99 Since the starting service at the middle of June, 2010, the Wen-Hu Line of Taipei Rapid Transit System (from Neihu to Mucho-Lin) caused traffic delay accidents over average 23 times per month. Due to this line unstable transportation problems were emerged to public media concerns and inconvenient to around neighborhood people also. People joked this line named its “a swindle Line”. In that period of time, media with press made lot concerns on its following reports. Since those kinds of accidents were seldom happened within recent Taiwan developing history, most people believes that the government need to be changed on somewhere. Press has strong influence on public acknowledge. Due to the media have a broad concerns on those accidents in negative point of view, the Problem–solving capability of Taipei Rapid Transit System officers were questioned by public civic. The outstanding engineering image of earlier Taipei Rapid Transit System was totally destroyed. In the continuing press reports with different respects, there need a well design communication method to solve this communication crisis. The public have right to know the truth on those series of construction accidents. At this moment, how to improve the communication method for Taipei Rapid Transit System management will be the first priority for both public and press. In the meantime, study the theory of Image Repair Strategies may be show a way to get out of this predicament. This will be this research need to be discussed. In this research, it takes the Wen-Hu Crisis as an example. To interview the first-line reporter, public relation staff, spokesman and the engineering staff through the method of qualitative research tries to understand the difficulties that the engineering staff was dealing with. However, the media still reports the news with negative respective. The main reason is the difference of the cognition of the news release between the press and the government. The reporters tried to find the value of the news, but the government thinks that the professional knowledge will be only the key. Cause the grounding difference the broken relationship still exist bias among media and government relation officers. In this study, researcher believes that it needs to give detail and correct information to press to sustain mutual inter-relationship. The Taipei Rapid Transit system office has to find more opportunities to open its resources to let public realize its mission and credibility which will improve its reputation as long as trying hard to do. In this study result could give government a related-reference by way of Crisis Image Repair Strategies whenever the next accident happened. |
