There exists a variety of measurement instruments for assessing emotional intelligence (EI). Most reports, the same EI scales are typically used as in self-reports, they have some key drawbacks: 1. self-report EI measures are likely to reflect perceived rather than actual performance levels; 2. self-report EI measures can easily be faked good. In this study, the measurement equivalence of Wong and Law (2002) WLEIS (Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale) across self and other ratings were tested. In addition to the use of physician self- report, the others use physician peer, nursing supervisors and administrative staffs, and further explored in which dimensions there are different. Results showed that physicians, peers, nurses and administrative staff had no equivalence between the four rater groups. Physician self- report in the four dimensions of emotional intelligence, scores were higher than other raters. Further to four score in comparing the differences between dimensions, found that physician’s intrapersonal EI dimensions of others emotional appraisal, with other evaluators score the biggest difference. Results of this study contribute to comparison of different raters to understand the dimensions of emotional intelligence in which inter-assessed by others to increase more reliable and credibility, as well as provide a reference for medical education.
