Analysis of the Flow Field and Noise for Small Wind Turbines

In recent years, power generation technique by wind turbines is getting matured and plays an important role of the green energy. The markets of all types of wind turbines are grown. Therefore, many companies step into this field and do the manufacturing work of the wind turbines. One way to increase the competing ability of the companies is applying computer-aided engineering software to shorten the R&D period. Thus, the major purpose of this research is using ANSYS’s CFX module to establish a set of suitable simulation steps and preciously predict the power of the wind turbines. We start this research from a small, lift type wind turbine with vertical rotating axis. In order to obtain 1kW power and optimize the efficiency of the wind turbine, we also study the parameter of wind speed, and the parameters of RPM, blade length, angle of attack and twisting angle of the wind turbine. Finally, we solve the aerodynamic noise of the wind turbine by using FLUENT module, and try to reduce its noise by change the blade twist angle.
