Improve the THD of Class D Amplifiers by the Dual-Feedback Scheme

Due to the higher power conversion efficiency, class-D amplifiers catch the attention in recent years gradually. However, because the operation is based on the switching, comparing to that of the traditional linear amplifiers, the linearity of class-D amplifier is required to improve. This paper proposed a novel dual (current/voltage) feedback, Bang-Bang Control Modulation-based Class D amplifiers circuit, with a self-tuned input structure to make sure the circuit can be expressed in terms of the Hysteresis window well. And we use the self-oscillation of the circuit structure without the need for additional external carrier signal. According to the results of simulation, the total harmonic distortion (THD) is reduced dramatically, based-on the 0.35μm-CMOS process simulation, it can get 0.018% THD, and power efficiency of 94.5%. The chip area is 0.38x0.48mm2.
