This present mainly discusses a new design workflow of a Stirilng engine design. A new V-type alpha will be demonstrated and used to verify the new design workflow. In addition, the new design workflow also be applied to analyze the natural frequency of crankshaft case, and the crankshaft balance mechanism design. The reliability of the new crankshaft also be studied and discussed. There are three different design stage in new design workflow, including concept design, preliminary design and detail design, moreover, the computer-aided engineering (CAE) process also be introduced in the workflow. Computer aided analysis of thermofluid field, mechanical stress and mechanism are applied in this research. The output power and boundary loading on related components can be obtained from thermofluid field analysis. The results can also be substituted into structure analysis. The reliability of engine components can be evaluated through finite element method. The unbalanced forces which induced by an unbalanced crankshaft and inertia forces of motion components may be obtained from mechanism simulation tool. The tool is also the platform of virtual balance test model. The model can calculate and evaluate the effective of balance mechanism design for the original design of crankshaft during engine operating. Results of CAE can provide lots of feedback to engine''s modification design and improvement.
