Globalization has facilitated the immediate flow of personnel, funds and goods in the whole world; however, in the meantime, it has also facilitated the expansion of criminal activities, providing an excellent cover for the flow of corruption criminals. Due to the similar geographic locations, languages, customs and cultures between Mainland China and Taiwan, it is much easier for criminals to abscond to Mainland China than to other countries. Moreover, the political factor between both sides of the Strait has increased the difficulty of pursuing criminals, which consequently makes the Mainland China become the primary choice of escape locations for corruption criminals. If those corruption criminals that abscond to Mainland China cannot be caught and arrested, it will not only be disadvantageous to crime prevention, but also undermine people’s trust in the Government. Once people’s trust in the Government has reduced, the governance of the Government will be bound to encounter a crisis. Accordingly, the researcher believes that the pursuit of corruption criminals absconding to Mainland China is the major issue for both sides of the Strait to jointly crack down on crime. This study was expected to sort and organize the current difficulties that our Government has encountered during the pursuit of corruption criminals absconding to Mainland China, and tried to devise some strategies for pursuing corruption criminals absconding to Mainland China, hoping to provide specific and feasible recommendations to the Government about the policies on the pursuit of corruption criminals absconding to Mainland China to serve as the future reference for the Government to crack down on corruption crimes.
