Designing Online Service Systems with Social Presence

With the flourish development of Internet and technological advances, more and more applications and transactions can be completed by the Internet. So in some locations to install network equipment and service systems, user can apply the online-service to transact business, which not need in person to the local or the Service. It is very convenient for busy or living in remote areas groups. However, according to previous findings, the public feel services or the transactions not familiar with the process and insecurity in e-commerce or government web sites. So in the no face to face interaction situation, people will increase the uncertainty and perceived risk, therefore it will reduce the trust and intention to use. According to the previous study, Social presence has been identified as a key consideration in system. It is able to positively affect the user wishes to use the system. The high-definition video images and accustomed of input will enhance the user's social presence. So this study design a set of video services and fill out the form online service system, the video is divided into high and standard definition with handwriting and keyboard input of the four settings. After the experiment, subjects were to complete the questionnaires, and by the empirical results of this study, the following conclusions: 1. In the video is high or standard definition with handwriting or keyboard input, the user's social presence, trust and intention to use are not significantly different. 2. Increase the social presence of online services to enhance the user confidence in the system, and thus enhance intention to use of the online service system. 3. In the standard definition video and keyboard input, the social presence has a higher power explanation.
