Critical Factors Affecting the Successful Implementation of Virtual Machine in Enterprises: An ITIL Perspective

| Popis: | 99 Virtual machine has become increasingly important for enterprises. Many enterprises are seeking the appropriate solution and plan to make a considerable investment in the virtual machine technology. However, most enterprises do not understand the way to successfully implement the virtual machine technology. ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) is an information technology (IT) service management methodology and an international standard of ISO 20000. In this study, five main modules of ITIL including IT service strategy, IT service design, IT service transition, IT service operation, and IT service improvement, and twenty-four management procedures were used to examine the critical factors affecting the successful implementation of virtual machine. Through the assistance from eight Taiwan distributors, a survey was conducted. One hundred and twenty four valid questionnaires from firms who have implemented the virtual machine technology were received. The analytical results indicated that the enhanced level of IT service strategy, the enhanced level of IT service transition, and the enhanced level of continuous service improvement have positive effects on the successful implementation of the virtual machine in enterprises. Finally, managerial implications are also provided. |
