Seismic Response of Essential Equipment in Medical Facilities

| Popis: | 98 Medical facilities in the hospital is one of the main elements of response system for the earthquake disaster. In addition to ensure the safety of hospital staff, it should also provide adequate medical care to the injured patients after the earthquake. According to the experience of the 921 earthquake, some hospital buildings in the vicinity of disaster areas have not been serious damaged after the earthquake, however they can not remain functional because some nonstructural components like medical facilities and the important mechanical and electrical equipments were damaged. So whether the building itself or the medical facilities within must have sufficient capacity to resist earthquake. Then it can exert all it’s medical function that expected after the earthquake. In this study, we analysis the seismic force of medical facilities in the structure model according to the earthquake datum measured at the interior of the buildings in previous earthquakes by the “Taiwan strong motion observation program” in the Center Weather Bureau and actual installed locations of medical and major electrical and mechanical equipments in hospital. And then we examine the rationality of existing design codes with the relational legislations. |
