A Study on the Characteristics of the Engine with Electromechanical Valvetrain by Using Engine Model

Popis: | 98 This study investigated the characteristics of an electromechanical valvetrain (EMV) engine by using engine model; moreover, the influence of EMV engine on performance and fuel consumption were observed, and hence the characteristics of EMV was caught. First of all, the Matlab/Simulink was used to establish the engine model of target engine; then, the original valve lift profile was replaced by EMV lift profile. After that, simulations were performed through different engine speed at wide open throttle (WOT) to evaluate the engine performance. The results show that the EMV engine has better improvement of engine performance and fuel consumption at lower engine speed, as compared with traditional valvetrain engine. After investigating the results from WOT and the various valve timing control methods, the method that combined lately intake valve close (LIVC) and unthrottle was employed to control the engine load. The valve timing was keep optimal for each EMV operation point. After comparing the results from EMV and tradition valvetrain, the result indicate that the EMV engine has better fuel economy during part load operation with lower engine speed. Also, the engine performance and fuel economy at high load operation with lower engine speed of EMV engine was improved. Because the characteristics of EMV motion velocity is faster than tradition valvetrain in lower engine speed. However, the EMV engine has the worse result in higher engine speed due to its characteristics. |
