In this study, manganese dioxide powder was prepared by the microwave heating method. Different concentration of NaClO3 or Na2S2O8 of were added to MnSO4 solution of various concentrations .A small amount of PEG 20000 was also added to make sure the product particles do not agglomerate. Finally, the entire sample was put into the microwave heating system for producing the MnO2 powder. In the of process of preparing manganese dioxide, XRD were used to measure the crystal structures and analysis to identify the best characteristic peak of the different oxidant molar ratios. We also investigated the result from PEG-20000, different heating time and power of heating. DLS was used to measure the size of particle. The best condition for producing MnO2 were inferred from the measured results. The particle sizes varied with several factors. When the molar ratio of MnSO4 to NaClO3 is 1:0.5 and the about amount of PEG-20000 added is 1.5 g, the minimum average particle size is about 133.4 nm; when heated time is 8 hours, the minimum average particle size and the is about 183.2 nm. When the molar ratio of MnSO4 to Na2S2O8 is 5:1 and the amount of PEG-20000 added is 0.3 g, the minimum average particle size is about129.9 nm; when heated time is 5 hours, the minimum average particle size is about 168.9 nm. Finally, The composition, particle size, and surface morphology of the products were analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), Dynamic Light cattering Particle Size Analysis (DLS), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
