The Moderating Effects of Perceived Environment Uncertainty upon the Relationship between Infrastructure and Location Attractiveness

Most of priori host country environment studies focus on infrastructure or perceived environment uncertainty. However, it’s not necessarily exists a positive correlation between infrastructure and perceived environment, result in inconsistent conclusions about environmental influence. Evidence from 2007 investment environment and risks investigation of mainland China which was sponsored by Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturer’s Association and China Statistical Yearbook in 2007, this article analysis the moderating effects of perceived environment uncertainty upon the relationship between infrastructure and location attractiveness which Taiwanese firms’ foreign direct investment in 53 cities of mainland China. The empirical results indicate that (1) infrastructure has positive effect on location attractiveness; (2) perceived environmental uncertainty has negative effect on location attractiveness; (3) perceived environmental uncertainty also exist negative moderating effect on the relationship between infrastructure and location attractiveness.
