Elevators are the necessary devices for current living environment especially for giant building. The elevator group control systems (EGCS) are the control systems that manage systematically, several elevators in order to efficiently transport the passengers. An intelligent EGCS is then needed to make the ideal car arrangement in peak hours and/or power saving in off-peak hours. ECGS is subject to manage several elevators at the same time, optimize the hall call assignments in dynamic environment in real time. The factors needed to be considered includes the number of elevators, traffic flows, moving directions, congestion, priority of floors, and preference of passengers etc. Generally, the complexity of EGCS is very high and the correct prediction of system state is difficult so that it is not easy to make a correct model to control the system. Therefore, the approximation method based on the fuzzy theory tuning by genetic algorithm has been applied in this study. The proposed method provides an optimized Hall Call assignment which depends on the volume of passenger traffic flows to maximize the transportation efficiency or energy saving. The experimental results show that the proposed method is with more desirable performance than the conventional methods.
