Popis: | 98 Four types of symmetrical organic peroxides were assessed by the thermal screening unit (TSU): Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO)、Lauroyl Peroxide (LPO)、Di-tert-Butyl Peroxide (DTBP) and Dicumyl Peroxide (DCPO). We simulated and performed the following experiments: organic peroxide itself, organic peroxides with acids (1M HCl) and bases (1M NaOH) and mixing organic peroxides with each other. The experiment data such as maximum temperature-rising rate, maximum pressure-rising rate, maximum pressure of decomposition, maximum temperature, final pressure etc., were obtained and evaluated. We discussed the thermal decomposition of organic peroxides, determined onset temperatures by temperature-rising rate and pressure-rising rate curves, and assessed the reactive risks by the risk assessment matrix. Results showed that in some cases, the reaction onset temperature based on the pressure-rising rate could detect the runaway earlier than the temperature-rising rate. Mixing with acids (1M HCl) and bases (1M NaOH) didn’t have significant effects on the onset temperature of organic peroxides. By applying the risk assessment matrix we found that most of cases were in the HIGH and MEDIUM risk categories. |
