Popis: | 98 In this thesis, we propose an accurate and reliable way to model inductors. And by utilizing proposed inductor model, we can further optimize the inductor design. Partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC) is utilized to model the inductor. PEEC partitions metal into small filaments. To maintain accuracy, we determine that fine meshes cover at least four skin depths at conductor boundary, and remaining area covered by coarse meshes. Next, we use closed-form formula to calculate the impedance between the metals and of the metal. By using the above methods, currency distribution within the metal can be quickly and accurately determined. Next, we use the proposed inductor model to analyze different inductor structures, including planar and multi-layer inductors. We get two conclusions: first, under the conditions of equivalent operating frequency and inductance, when metal thickness is larger than metal width, optimized multi-layer inductor has less resistance than optimized planar one. Second, under the same conditions, if we fix the perimeter of the metal and geometric mean distance between the metals, the resistance of inductor will not change regardless of metal width variation. |
