The impact of supply chain management practices on firms' performance

With the maturity of Internet technology and its wide use in commercial activities, the fierce competition of enterprise globalization and Group of enterprises has been accelerated. If an enterprise wants to survive in this environment, it must cooperate with its upper, middle, and also lower end companies to form a supply chain that is resource-rich and can respond quickly to customer demands. Therefore, if we further know what supply chain management practices can really help companies to achieve better performance goal, individual companies then can more precisely set up its own management rules according to company objectives on the basis of cooperation with each other. In this study, we base on the 25 supply chain management practices from the literature(Tan, Lyman, & Wisner, 2002),and joined some 17 items proposed by Chen and Paulraj (2004). After further ordering and cutting items, there are a total of 39 supply chain management practices measured in this study. In addition, there are 11 performance indicators. A total of 91 valid samples are analyzed through factor analysis and path analysis tools to explore the importance of different types of supply chain management practices, and further to identify what types of SCM practices may have impacts on organization performance. The results of this study are: (1) the establishment of 30 SCM practices and eight factor dimensions; (2) there are three dimensions of SCM practices that impact on the operating performance.
