A Study on the Leisure Activities Particiapation and Constraints Factors of the Elementary Students with Musical Talent and General Students

Popis: | 98 The purpose of this study was to investigate leisure activities’ participation and constraint of the elementary students with musical talent and general students in Kaohsiung city, as well as to compare the difference between both. 〝Questionnaire of Elementary School Students’ Leisure Activity〞was edited by the researcher, Census and Cluster Sampling was applied to select 288 students with musical talent subject and 332 general students. With Descriptive analysis, t-test and one-way ANOVA, the major findings of the study were as the following: 1. The type of leisure participation presents situation of students with musical talent (1) From the highest o the lowest order the types of leisure participation were Education type, Entertainment type, Skill type, Sport type and Activity type. (2) The first three items of the most popular leisure participation types were 1.musical instrument performance activity, 2.extracurricular reading, and 3.watching TV/firm/DVD. (3) There were significant difference between male and female students in Sport type and Entertainment type. Both types were male students significant higher than female students. (4) There were significant difference between grades in Sport type and Activity type. Forth graders were significant higher than Fifth and sixth graders in Sport type;Fifth and sixth graders were significant higher than third graders in Activity type. 2. The type of leisure participation presents situation of general students (1) From the highest to the lowest order the types of leisure participation were Entertainment type, Education type, Sport type, Activity type and Skill type. (2) The first three items of the most popular leisure participation types were 1.watching TV/firm/DVD, 2.extracurricular reading and 3.playing computer games. (3) There were significant difference between male and female students in Skill type, Sport type and Entertainment type. Female students were significant higher than male students in Skill type;Male students were significant higher than female students in Sport type and Entertainment type. (4) There were significant difference between grades in Education type, Skill type, Sport type and Entertainment type. Fifth graders were significant higher than third graders in Education type;Fifth graders were significant higher than third and sixth graders in Sill type and Sport type;Fifth and sixth graders were significant higher than third graders in Activity type as well as sixth graders were significant higher than forth graders in Activity type. 3. The factors of leisure constraint present situation of students with musical talent (1) From the highest to the lowest order the factors of leisure constraint were Personal factor and Nonpersonal factor. (2) The first three items of the most popular leisure constraint factors were 1.musical instrument practice, 2.too much homework, and 3.unsafe leisure environment. (3) There was no significant difference between male and female students in Personal factor and Nonpersonal factor. (4) There was no significant difference between grades in Personal factor and Nonpersonal factor. 4. The factors of leisure constraint present situation of general students (1) From the highest to the lowest order the factors of leisure constraint were Personal factor and Nonpersonal factor. (2) The first three items of the most popular leisure constraint factors were 1.too much homework, 2.unsafe leisure environment, and 3.not understand or not familiar with the skill (3) There was no significant difference between male and female students in Personal factor and Nonpersonal factor. (4) There were significant differences between grades in Nonpersonal factor. Third and forth graders were higher than fifth and sixth graders. 5. The different type of leisure participation between students with musical talent and general students There were significant differences between students with musical talent and general students in Education type, Skill type, Entertainment type and Activity type. Students with musical talent were significant higher than general students in Education type, Skill type and Activity type. General students were significant higher than students with musical talent in Entertainment type. 6. The different factors of leisure constraint between students with musical talent and general students There were significant differences between students with musical talent and general students in Personal factor. Students with musical talent were significant higher than general students in Personal factor. Based on the above research findings, some suggestions are made for students, parents, teachers, Ministry of education and future studies. |
