Title:Flying Quality Assessment for Civil Transport Aircraft Longitudinal and Lateral Motions under Weather Hazard Student:Pu-Chung Hsu Professor:Ching-Shiung Ho The objective of the study is to analyze aircraft’s longitudinal and lateral flying quality under Weather Hazard by using real flight data in flight data recorder (FDR). Through the aircraft dynamics, we can assess vertical and horizontal flight operations quality by using aircraft's aerodynamic coefficients and aerodynamic derivatives in hazardous weather. And a new lateral flight quality index was applied by using the same concept of longitudinal parameter Control Anticipation Parameter. There are two cases study: Case 1 is about the lateral flying quality assessment of a medium civil transport aircraft which encounters a cross wind before it touchdown. The result can observe that when the crosswind variation increase cause the lateral flying quality level down. And the new lateral flight quality index is tested. Case 2 is about the longitudinal flying quality assessment of a heavy civil transport aircraft which encounters turbulence when descending. The result can observe that longitudinal flying quality degrades from level 1 to level 3 when encountering turbulence.
