Design of High Power Booster Module for 2.4 GHz ISM Band Application

The aim of this research is to develop the high linear high power booster module which can be used for high data rate wireless communication system. This booster module includes transmission receives switch, data rate detector, power amplifier, low noise amplifier, electronic circuits and so on. Generally, it is highly difficult to design the high power amplifier using single monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC), and obtain the best impedance matching and the linearity on the chip. Therefore, this research combined two power amplifier MMIC by combiner to increase 3dB output power and obtain the good linearity. Using combiner to integrate two MMIC, can suppress the harmonic and noises and possess the better frequency response compared with single power amplifier MMIC. The Wilkinson microstrip line circuit, combined with different power amplifiers is used in this study to obtain better output power and achieve higher linear output. In the fabricated high power booster module, there is no need to connect the control signal of the wireless system and the module can be controlled by the power detector circuit to transmit and receive signals. Therefore, this booster module can be considered as full-duplex high power module and applied for IEEE802.11 b/g/n wireless network.
