In the recent years, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and NFC (Near Field Communication) technologies have been popular to develop various large scale application systems, such as logistics management, campus guidance, and so on. In particular, a most frequent application system is applied to the book management in the library. Despite of the emerging promise and benefits of RFID, the technology still has shortcomings that the middleware system is dependent on suppliers. In order to overcome these problems, the middleware system is developed by using Java ME (Java Platform, Micro Edition), which is an open source technology. Moreover, in this thesis, the mobile phone of NFC technology is also adopted to substitute for the PDA (Personal Digital Assistant). The purpose of using NFC mobile phone is to enhance the freedom of operation which is become more convenient for the users. Furthermore, The NFC based on JSR-257 technology can be used to integrate NFC technology into Java environments which can support the development of campus application systems. Finally, several application systems are analysed by UML (Unified Modeling Language) tool and implemented by RFID and NFC technologies. Keywords:RFID、NFC、UML、Java ME、PDA、Middleware
