To explore the demands and analyze current situation of parenting education for parents in six-year high school

In view of the change of modern society, the overflow of Internet, and the effects of adolescent subculture, which make many family problems emerge frequently, it is urgent to implement parenting education and the key of success depends on the parents. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the parental attitudes and effects toward the implementation of parenting education in school. There are three purposes in this paper: 1. To realize the recognition degree of the parents on parenting education. 2. To realize the emphatic degree on parenting education and the situation of practical participation of parents with different backgrounds toward the effects of students’ learning performance. 3. To explore the analytical prediction about the effects of the variable of parents’ personal backgrounds on implementing parenting education. Then, by the way of questionnaire and the analysis through SPSS, the main findings of this research are as follows: 1. Most parents hold positive and definite attitude on the recognition of parenting education. Both the school and parents are able to emphasize the implementation of parenting education and affirm the function of it. 2. Most parents’ attitudes are also positive and definite toward the emphatic degree on parenting education. There are some variables attaining obvious differences among different variables of backgrounds, including different degree, marital status. 3. The situation of parents’ presence about the parenting education activities is not I deal and the frequency participation for the present is less than that during the childhood. The parents’ participation in parenting education is not eager enough; especially on the variable of gender, most participants are the mothers. There are many reasons why the parents cannot participate in the activities but being busy is the main reason. Most parents are satisfied with the way, contents, and time arrangement of parenting education. 4. With regard to implementing the contents of parenting education, “To realize the development of psychology and techniques of communication in the different stages of adolescent” is most needed. 5. The contents of parenting education provided by the school cannot meet parents’ demands and the ways of parenting education are not abundant and diversified. The improvement of parenting education should proceed inward and outward from many aspects at the same time.
